Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk reportedly said on Monday that the project should not go ahead “as it is not in the interest of Ukraine and the EU”.
"We believe that this project has to be stopped, banned because ... the pipeline will give more of a monopoly to Russian gas,” Yatsenyuk was cited by Reuters as saying.
However,EU officials have repeatedly said they can't block a project that abides by the region's laws.
