"Some states don’t want to have that resource developed," Representative Pete Olson of Texas said Tuesday at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston. "That's no surprise, it’s their choice. But many states are already rolling out the welcome mat."
The Atlantic waters in question would include areas off the eastern coasts of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, but would also include a 50-mile (80-kilometre) buffer zone from the coast to minimise pollution impacts.
