The lawmakers, led by South Carolina Representative Mark Sanford and Virgina Representative Gerry Connolly,sent their letter as the administration is reviewing permits for shooting seismic off the East Coast despite leaving Atlantic exploration off the table in its proposed leasing plan for 2017 to 2022.
In the letter, the representatives argue that seismic airgun blasting would be disruptive to marine life, including commercial fish populations and the endangered North Atlantic right whale.
