The US needs to modernise regulations governing Arctic exploration if the country is going to monetise resources in the oil-rich region, according to a senior executive at Shell.
A model on Arctic resource exploitation akin to that seen in Norway is necessary, as it a lengthening of US exploration leases, Ann Pickard, vice president, Arctic at the Anglo-Dutch supermajor told delegates at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston on Tuesday.
