The news wire said a 12-inch pipe near Vernon, Louisiana ruptured late on Friday, releasing 3.9 million cubic feet of natural gas into the atmosphere and an unknown quantity of condensate into the ground.
Pipeline operator DCP Midstream, a joint venture between Spectra Energy and Phillips 66, said in a notice to the US National Response Centre that the release was stopped by Saturday afternoon.
