Proved natural gas reserves were up by 34.8 trillion cubic feet to 388.8 Tcf, their highest levels ever, the US Energy Information Administration said in its latest reserve report.
The jump was largely attributable to drilling in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays in the Appalachian basin as well as increased drilling in liquids-rich shale plays in Texas such as the Eagle Ford.
