The US Coast Guard and regulators are responding to a pipeline spill first reported yesterday in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

The release of gas and condensate was called in by a helicopter pilot over West Cameron Block 165 at about 2 pm on Wednesday.

Fieldwood Energy first reported a "bubbling and sheen" about one quarter to one-half mile southeast of Platform WC-165, which is in about 48 feet of water, the US Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement said.
