Colorado-based Vantage controls 88,600 acres prospective for the Marcellus and Utica shale plays in Greene County, Pennsylvania as well as 37,400 acres in the Barnett Shale in north Texas.
In May, Vantage paid $339.5 million to coal company Alpha Natural Resources for the drilling rights to 31,200 acres in Greene County, outbidding rival Rice Energy.
Vantage was producing 398.5 million cubic feet of natural gas per day at the end of the second quarter.
