PSV UP Safira was hit by the fire on Tuesday in Macae, Brazil.
Vessel owner Ultrapetrol described it as "a localised incident of a small fire on the main deck".
The fire broke out "during maintenance activity" and was controlled within minutes by the crew.
"There was no injury to the crew or damage to the vessel or the environment," a senior official at Ultrapetrol said in a statement.
