Stones, which is only the second FPSO-based development in the US Gulf, is expected to produce around 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day when fully ramped up at the end of 2017.
Turritella is installed in Shell’s Stones development located in 2896 meters of water approximately 320 kilometres off Louisiana in the Walker Ridge area.
Engineered and constructed by SBM Offshore, the FPSO is specially designed to operate safely during storms, as it can disconnect and sail away from the field in the event of bad weather.
