Petroluem & Energy Minister Tord Lien conducted the opening ceremony on Monday of the cylindrical floating production, storage and offloading vessel that finally started production last month after a delay of more than two years compared with the original schedule.
The Sevan Marine-designed unit, with storage capacity of 950,000 barrels, will produce at a targeted rate of 100,000 barrels per day from the field, which holds an estimated 180 million barrels of oil and now has an expected lifetime of 20 years after Eni identified “significant upside” from additional resource potential in the area.
