The field is called Ca Tam and is located in Block 9-3/12, according to Zarubezhneft - the Russian counterpart to PetroVietnam within Vietsovpetro.
Zarubezhneft said a recent well on the field called CT-4X flowed oil at a rate of 650 cubic metres per day from the Oligocene interval during a production test.
The field was discovered in 2014 by the CT2-X exploration well.
