“In the near term, many companies today are exploiting the resource potential of (unconventional) plays,” Marathon Oil chief executive Lee Tillman said “That is giving a tremendous growth profile today, but as you push the time horizon out, there is absolutely a role that deep-water and offshore (developments) must play.”
Such allocation decisions have always been a part of efficiently managing any company portfolio.
