Suncor posted a loss of C$735 million (US$559.8 million) for the recent June quarter, compared to a net profit of C$729 million over the same period last year.
The fall into the red was largely blamed on the forest fires in Alberta this year which led to mass evacuations and reduced the company’s oil sands production in the second quarter by roughly 20 million barrels.
