Wintershall is aiming to make a concept selection on its Skarfjell project off Norway in the first quarter, after a lengthy delay in making a decision.
The German operator hopes to select the field development concept in the first quarter, block partner Cairn Energy said in a trading update on Tuesday.
Wintershall said in August that it was preparing to make a concept selection at Skarfjell by the end of last year, with production start-up eyed in 2021.
The operator had already delayed selection by more than a year as it looked to scale back development costs amid low oil prices and low contractor costs.
