The Breanann 3D study was conducted by Petroleum Geo-Services and covers 2392 square kilometres, of which more than half lies in Woodside-operated FEL 3/14.
Early results are due in January, with full interpretation data set to be ready in the middle of next year, Petrel said on Monday.
The Irish player holds a 15% interest in FEL 3/14, while Woodside holds 85%.
