The incident occurred last month when a steel plate fell from a significant height and struck a leg of the local worker, causing an open wound, a Statoil spokesman was quoted as saying by Norwegian publication Stavanger Aftenblad.
He said the injured worker, who was rushed to hospital after the 10 March incident, is still under medical treatment.
