The US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) responded to the incident on Platform A in Green Canyon Block 18 about 150 miles south of New Orleans. The platform is operated by US independent Whistler Energy II.
An initial report from BSEE indicates that the worker was killed during drilling operations on the platform-mounted rig. There were no other injuries reported or pollution associated with the incident, BSEE said.
