The Houston-based subsidiary of Japan's IHI confirmed to Upstream that it had "implemented a thorough and fair company-wide assessment based on each employee’s performance," and had decided to lay off "certain employees".

The company did not give any other information, but Fuelfix reported that less than 100 were let go.

Just last year, IHI E&C announced it was moving to a new, larger space in Houston's Energy Corridor to accommodate its growing workforce.
