Xcite spudded the Bentley field motherbore well offshore the UK on 18 March using the Rowan Norway jack-up rig, following a series of delays in securing the appropriate permits.
The company announced today it was making preparations to set a blow out preventer on the well, which it said would demonstrate the proposed well design for phase 1B of its drilling programme.
