The little-known company has hatched a memorandum of understanding with another relative unknown, Teredo International, for what it says would be a “significant working interest” in five permits.
Although Xplorer refers to the permits in the Boujdour block as being off Morocco, they actually lie off Western Sahara, a territory controlled by the Rabat administration.
Xplorer said Teredo holds a 36.75% stake in Boujdour – not to be confused with the Kosmos Energy-operated Cap Boujdour block also off Western Sahara, which is deep-water acreage and also sits in the Aaiun basin.
