OPINION: Mozambique, despite its huge gas resources, appears to have been somewhat neglected by European officials on their urgent mission to secure alternative gas supplies to replace Russian feedstock.

While all eyes have been on North America, North Africa, West Africa and the East Mediterranean, gas-rich East Africa looks like it has been on the flight path less travelled.

Maybe that is about to change, with advances in liquefied natural gas technologies offering oil companies faster, smaller and cheaper solutions ideally suited to remote locations.
