Tatiana Moguchaya spends her workdays in the rarefied digital realm of artificial intelligence, machine learning and intelligent automation.

Much of what can seem intimidatingly esoteric to non-experts, Moguchaya — who was named chief executive at Norwegian technology company Earth Science Analytics (ESA) this month — says boils down to “identifying a problem and trying to solve it”.

That of course is a very simplified way to describe what she and her team of scientists at ESA do to help companies “liberate” years, sometimes decades, of subsurface and operational data as they implement digital transformation initiatives.
