Malaysia’s Hibiscus Petroleum is starting to fully bloom in its 10th year of operations, and under the leadership of founding managing director Kenneth Pereira, the company is working to complete later this year what it calls a "transformative" acquisition of Repsol’s producing fields in Malaysia.

In the Southeast Asia country, where national oil company Petronas is omnipresent, Hibiscus has a unique status as the only homegrown pure-play exploration and production company with operations there.

Hibiscus has quietly built a good reputation on the back of its operations at the Anasuria oilfield in the UK North Sea, acquired in 2016, and the North Sabah oil complex offshore Malaysia purchased two years later.
