Emeliana Dallan Rice-Oxley, the highly respected former executive of Malaysian national oil company Petronas, has agreed to join Malaysian operator Hibiscus Petroleum’s board of directors.
Rice-Oxley is a distinguished explorationist who recently retired from Petronas.
She was most recently the vice president of exploration, upstream at Petronas. Hibiscus said she led Petronas’ international exploration growth strategy with entries into selected, prolific basins in the Americas and West Africa.
She also led Petronas’ strategy to accelerate monetisation of gas-rich resources in East Malaysia.
Rice-Oxley’s appointment as an independent, non-executive director to Hibiscus’ board of directors took effect on 5 October 2022.
Hibiscus said in a statement it was confident that 59-year-old Rice-Oxley’s contribution “will be extremely valuable and we look forward to working with her towards fulfilling our vision of being a respected, valuable and responsible energy company”.
Hibiscus has grown rapidly in recent years and has a portfolio of offshore exploration and production assets in Malaysia and the UK.
Rice-Oxley graduated with a BSc in Geology from the University of South Carolina and has more qualifications from Stanford University and Harvard Business School.
She is currently an advisory board member of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia’s business advisory board, and an advisory board member for the Women’s Global Leadership Conference in Energy, Houston.
