Karl Fredrik Staubo’s career almost seems predetermined.

“I was born with a great fascination for boats — anything that floats,” he says.

At 35, Staubo, chief executive of Golar LNG, oversees a company that has racked up a number of floating firsts, including the world’s first floating liquefied natural gas conversion, the Hilli Episeyo, off the coast of Cameroon, and the first floating storage and regasification unit conversion, the Golar Spirit, in 2008.

“Our engineering capability, entrepreneurial mindset and operational track record are arguably the biggest value of the company today,” he says.
