Cao Shujie has resigned as the chief executive of China Oilfield Service Ltd (COSL) as he is heads to another job away from the offshore contractor.

He will, however, remain on as one of the company’s board members, COSL said in a statement.

Cao is being transferred to another job, the statement said without giving further details.

He will leave COSL, although it is possible he could stay within parent company, state giant China National Offshore Oil Corporation.

COSL said it is looking at candidates for Cao’s replacement.

Born in 1964, Cao became COSL’s chief executive and president in May 2018. At COSL, he has held a number of positions including the director of the drilling department.

He graduated from East China Petroleum University in 1987.
