Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has announced a major shift in Germany’s attitude towards the Russian subsea gas export pipeline Nord Stream 2.

She told the lower chamber of parliament, the Bundestag, that a package of jointly discussed sanctions against Russia includes the controversial project.

According to Euronews, Baerbock told parliamentarians that Russia will face “massive consequences” if it invades Ukraine, with Nord Stream 2 sanctions included.
