Carlos Zacarias, who for nearly two decades has been Mozambique's go-to man for overseas players interested in the company's upstream sector, has been inaugurated as the country's new Minister of Mineral Resources & Energy.

Zacarias replaces Max Tonela, who has been appointed Minister of Finance, a role held for seven years by Adriano Maleiane, who is now Prime Minister.

Maleiane’s promotion came at the expense of former prime minister, Carlos do Rosario, who was sacked last week by President Filipe Nyusi along with five other Cabinet members.
