A final investment decision on some $16 billion of upstream, midstream and downstream investments in Uganda and Tanzania has been tentatively earmarked for 11 April.

Sanctioning of Total’s Tilenga and CNOOC International’s Kingfisher projects in Uganda and the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) that will transport this heavy crude 1445 kilometres to Tanga port in Tanzania had been earmarked for late March.

However, the death of Tanzania’s president John Magufuli and a mourning period in his homeland, saw the date postponed.
