Tensions are rising in Nigeria’s oil producing Rivers State as movement restrictions imposed by Governor Nyesom Wike to stem the spread of the new coronavirus come into conflict with the stated aim of the Federal Government to keep the oil and gas pumping.

Rivers State security agents intercepted 22 ExxonMobil oil and catering workers after arriving by air in Port Harcourt, the main entry point on the way to the Qua Ibo Terminal (QIT) at Eket in neighbouring Akwa Ibom, local media reported.
