Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari must ensure that a minimum 25% equity stake in upcoming marginal field awards is allocated to host and transit communities in the oil producing Edo and Delta States, according to Indigenous Ijaw rights activists.

The call comes as the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) revealed several applicants had failed to fulfill obligations as some directors of suitor companies are also on the board of companies in default of statutory fee payments on fields already allocated, and must clear themselves by 24 July.
