Russian law enforcement agencies have cracked down on participants in last week’s riots at the Amur gas processing plant in the far east of the country.

Special units from the country’s interior ministry, the Federal Security Service (FSB) and National Guards Rosgvardia have been mobilised to the construction site to drive out disgruntled workers back to their dormitories.

Details about the crackdown emerged at hearings in the city of Blagoveshchensk where a city court rubberstamped a request from local prosecutors to detain 11 workers — labelled as “active instigators of riots” — for the period of two months.
