Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok has accepted the resignation of Energy & Mines Minister Adel Ali Ibrahim along with five other ministers within his 18-member cabinet.

The others to go include the heads of the finance and foreign affairs portfolios, with Hamdok installing interim replacements from within the bureaucracy.

A full reshuffle had been predicted in local media as Sudan prepares to implement a political transition to democratic rule and moves to sign peace deals with rebel groups in exchange for positions in government and a proposed legislative council.
