Global energy services contractor Weatherford International has suspended new investment and new technology deployments for its Russian operations.

The Houston-based company said it would continue to comply with applicable laws and sanctions as it fulfils its current contractual obligations, following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

"Our deepest sympathies go out to all those impacted by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and sincerely hope that peace is restored soon to spare further hardship. Our primary focus is centred on the safety and well-being of our employees in the region,” said Weatherford chief executive Girish Saligram.
