China imported more oil and gas last year via the parallel import pipelines that traverse Myanmar than in the previous year.

China last year imported 79.2 million barrels of crude via the onshore pipeline that runs from Kyauk Phyu in Myanmar’s Rakhine state across the border to Kunming in Yunnan province.

This 6.3% year-on-year increase was dwarfed by the 54% hike in the volumes of gas that China imported in 2019.
