Chinese operator CNOOC Ltd has flowed first oil at its Liuhua 21-2 oilfield in the Pearl River Mouth basin of the South China Sea.

The field is located in water depths of about 437 metres and its subsea production system is tied back to the Hai Yang Shi You 119 floating production, storage and offloading vessel with two 7.55-kilometre power cables, three 2.8-kilometre flexible risers and flowlines, as well as one umbilical.

It is currently producing oil from eight wells.
