Chinese offshore giant CNOOC Ltd has increased production almost fourfold oil at Iraq’s Missan oilfields with output now hitting 300,020 barrels per day, up from 88,000 bpd in 2010.

The company’s Iraqi outfit CNOOC Iraq said the milestone was achieved amid multiple challenges, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chain constraints and the fields’ natural decline in production.

This year the company has put 39 production wells into operation, with combined output reaching 72,000 bpd. In addition, CNOOC Iraq has drilled 46 adjustment wells which have added a combined 27,000 bpd of crude to the portfolio.
