Vietnam's Hoang Long and Hoan Vu joint operating companies produced from their offshore fields in the Cuu Long basin in line with guidance during 2020, with the Hoang Vu group expecting improvements following planned drilling this year.

Production from Hoang Long's Te Giac Trang (TGT) oilfield in Block 16-1 averaged 15,296 barrels of oil equivalent per day on a gross basis in the year ending 31 December 2020, while production from the Ca Ngu Vang (CNV) field in Block 9-2 averaged 6223 boe per day gross, said Pharos Energy (formerly Soco International), a partner in both joint operating companies.

No drilling activities took place on the CNV field in 2020, with operations focused instead on routine well maintenance.

Operations on the TGT field focused on proactively managing the existing reservoirs and optimising production from the existing wells, principally through well interventions and gas lift optimisation, said Pharos.

In 2021, the Hoang Long group has approved the drilling of four development wells and is ordering long-lead items to enable the start of drilling in the third quarter this year, one quarter earlier than planned.

Two more wells that are planned in 2022 are part of the TGT full field development plan which seeks to life gross production to about 20,000 boe per day in 2022.

Partners in the Hoan Vu group are PetroVietnam Exploration & Production (50%), Pharos (25%) and Thailand's PTTEP (25%).

The Hoang Long partners are PVEP (41%), Pharos (30.5%) and PTTEP (28.5).
