Equinor has secured a grant of up to Nkr2.3 billion ($256.5 million) from Norway’s state climate agency Enova to support its development of the giant Hywind Tampen floating windmill project, paving the way for a final investment decision later this autumn.

The decision, announced on Thursday, confirmed an earlier Upstream report that Enova had approved the scheme for funding after the state-controlled operator gained the backing of partners Petoro, OMV, ExxonMobil, Wintershall Dea, Idemitsu Petroleum and Vaar Energi for the pioneering Nkr5 billion project.
