Supplies of Russian gas to Europe via Poland and Ukraine picked up slightly early on Tuesday after Russia's President Vladimir Putin instructed Gazprom to increase gas shipments to the continent from 8 November.

Spot gas prices in Europe increased on Monday as Russian gas deliveries remained barely changed after the expiry of the deadline, provoking fresh supply concerns.

According to German gas transmission operator Gascade, Russian state gas monopoly Gazprom restarted deliveries to the country from Poland via the Yamal Pipeline in the early morning of 9 November at an hourly rate of about 810,000 cubic metres.
