Houston-based Helix Energy Solutions has acquired a Murphy Oil-led joint venture's interest in Mississippi Canyon Block 734 in the US Gulf of Mexico, also known at the Thunder Hawk field.

The seller, MP Gulf of Mexico, is a joint venture controlled by Murphy Exploration & Production, is divesting its entire 62.5% stake in the block. The interest includes three wells and all related subsea infrastructure on an area collectively known as the Thunder Hawk Field.

The acquisiion was made through Helix subsidiary Deepwater Abandonment Alternative (DAA).
