Norwegian energy giant Equinor has signed a new long-term agreement to buy US liquefied natural gas from Cheniere Energy starting from 2026.
Equinor said on Thursday it has agreed to buy about 1.75 million tonnes per annum of LNG over 15 years from Cheniere Marketing on a so-called “free-on-board basis”.
Half of the volume, or about 900,000 tpa, is subject to Cheniere reaching a final investment decision to build additional liquefaction capacity at the Corpus Christi LNG Terminal beyond the seven-train Corpus Christi Stage 3 project, it added.
