Jadestone Energy has suspended production at its Montara oilfield offshore Australia after a further defect was found on the floating production, storage and offloading vessel during repairs to a storage tank following a crude leak.

In June, the Singapore-headquartered independent discovered a small leak from a crude storage tank on board the Montara Venture FPSO. The operator performed an interim repair and subsequently restarted production and has been working to complete a permanent fix on tank 2C.

However, during preparations for this repair, an additional internal defect in water ballast tank 4S was detected and this will be added to the workscope of repairs.
