Pakistan’s state-owned Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully completed the installation of an electrical submersible pump (ESP) at its Rajian-05 onshore well, significantly boosting production.

Following a planned workover and ESP deployment, production has increased to 3100 barrels per day of oil and 1 million cubic feet per day of gas. Before this intervention, the Rajian-5 well was producing 820 bpd of crude and 500,000 cubic feet per day of gas.

OGDCL has a 100% operated interest in the Rajian field, which is located on the Gujar Khan exploration licence in Chakwal district and was discovered in August 1994.

Two wells at Rajian had previously been completed with ESPs, and the recent result at Rajian-05 further supports OGDCL's efforts to maximise the value of its existing assets through data-driven redevelopment planning.

The operator said this development reinforces the company's continued focus on domestic energy resource optimisation in support of long-term sustainability and national energy security.
