The billion-barrel Hibernia oilfield offshore Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada has just gotten bigger by 170 million barrels, according to a new resource estimate, with the possibility that an additional 180 million barrels could be recovered.

Hibernia — which is controlled by the ExxonMobil-led Hibernia Management & Development Company (HMDC) — came online in 1997 via a concrete gravity-based structure sitting in the oil-rich Grand Banks.
