Russian regional oil producer Sakhalinmorneftegaz is preparing to restart oil production early next year after halting output earlier in 2020 following repeated ruptures of a legacy pipeline to the mainland and high production costs at its legacy onshore fields.

Media reports in the producer’s host region — Sakhalin Island in Russias far east — quoted Sakhalinmorneftegaz executive director Ivan Taran as saying the restart of idle fields will become possible following the anticipated commissioning of a new pipeline link.
