UK-listed Serica Energy bounced back into profit in the first half of 2021 after recording a loss in the same period of last year thanks to a surge in wholesale gas prices that has since pushed on to record highs.

The North Sea producer said gross profit in the first six months of the year was £46 million ($62 million). This compared to a loss of £19.8 million in the six months to the end of June 2020.
