Jadestone Energy has drilled a successful development well at its Montara oilfield offshore Western Australia and brought the well on stream.

The Singapore headquartered operator said the Montara-H6 well has been tied into the Montara field facilities and started production.

The initial production rate, after clean-up, approached 10,000 barrels per day, and following a period of well performance testing will be stabilised at about 3000 bpd.

The jack-up Valaris 107 has mobilised a short distance to the Skua-10 and Skua-11 workover location, with operations on Skua-11 now under way.

Jadestone chief executive Paul Blakeley said the Montara-H6 well confirmed the company's view of the Montara reservoir, and provided near term growth.

"It not only delivers a significant increase in oil production but is also a key step in our plan to deliver circa 20,000 boe/d towards the end of this year."

"Higher production coincides with continued strength in oil prices, to which we are fully exposed given our unhedged position."

In Australia, Jadestone owns 100% of the Montara and Stag oilfields which have further development and exploration potential.
