Five states in southeastern Nigeria have been selected to pioneer the use of natural gas in a bid to shift the country away from heavy fuel oil, diesel and gasoline and towards cleaner fuels, according to Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva.

Addressing the Southeast Gas Utilisation Forum this week in Owerri, Imo State, Sylva said Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enonyi and Enugu states would coalesce into a hub for the Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria to expand its reach across the country.
